On 26 December, 2019 Greater Bay Social Influence · Charity Gala was held in Canton Tower. The 2019 Guangzhou Charity Giver List and 2019 Guangzhou Charity Influencer List were published. Cedar Holdings was selected to be one of the Top 10 Guangzhou Charity Givers, and also “the Most Influential Guangzhou Charity Giver".

The gala, under the theme of "New Era, New Charity", were organized by Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau, Guangzhou Daily and Guangzhou Charity Association. Once launched, Guangzhou Charity Giver List received widespread attention. Similarly, the Charity Influencer List attracted up to 154,000 online voters and altogether 816,000 votes.

The honours are given in recognition of Cedar's charity cause and outstanding performance of poverty alleviation as a part of its social responsibility delivery.

Active Part in Poverty Alleviation

A few days ago, a report published by the Insight China under the publication of Qiu Shi of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out that in recent years, Cedar Holdings has been helping Bijie City, Guizhou Province with poverty alleviation through education. Specifically, Cedar built educational infrastructure and launched a variety of educational support programs.

Cedar built Bijie-Guangzhou Human Resources Development Base and the Goat City Middle School for Zhijin County. The construction of the Base is finished and put into operation. It can accommodate 3,000 people for vocational training and certification that covers 3 categories and 28 sub-categories of skills and techniques. The school will be put into operation by July 2020. According to the plan, Goat City Middle School will be able to accommodate at least 1,200 students. It will be an effective solution to the resettlement difficulties of poverty alleviation.

What's more, Cedar signed agreements with several local colleges over setting up 19 Cedar Courses in subjects including property management, chemical engineering and technology. Enrollement is projected to be over 700 students, among them half of them will come from the poor background. A variety of scholarships and stipends were also set up.

In September and November, the leading official of Chinese poverty alleviation work and Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee visited Cedar and appreciated Cedar's poverty alleviation efforts. Not long ago, Cedar Holdings was awarded the Model of Guizhou Poverty Alleviation.

Help to farmers and rural education

In 2019, Cedar continued to help farmers address difficulty and help children in rural areas to get access to education.

Due to the bad weather and traffic conditions, potatoes of Chongli, Zhangjiakou, Hebei, became unsaleable for 2018 and 2019. Upon learning this news, Cedar Holdings immediately initiated CSR response system to purchase the unsaleable potatoes and deliver them to social welfare organizations in Beijing. In the summer of 2019, Qinwang peaches of Liquan county, Shaanxi was unsalable. Upon learning this news, Cedar Holdings helped selling 75,000 kg Qinwang peaches, saving fruit growers from heavy financial loss.

In 2019, Cedar came to rural children’s aid, specifically in Jiangxi primary school infrastructure rebuilding and extension as well as teaching skills improvement. What's more, Cedar Foundation donated about 20,000 educational books and facilitated the implementation of the public welfare project “Southern Weekly Ark - Children Protection Plan”.

In August 2019, 2019 Jeremy Lin Celebrity Basketball Game took place. As the sponsor that also gives the game its name, Cedar International Trust has made donations to Jeremy Lin-Li Qun Sports Foundation, the organizer of the game, as a way to support its charity programme “Basketball Court Building Plan for Mountainous Area". The project is aimed at helping children from schools in poor regions of Qingyuan, Shaoguan and Guangxi to turn their dreams of playing basketball into reality.

Since its establishment, Cedar Holdings is dedicated to social welfare and social responsibility delivery. Looking forward, Cedar Holdings will expand its public service activities through Cedar Foundation, operate social welfare projects as business activities, and further participate in East-West Poverty Alleviation for new social progress and a better life.
