After becoming the 311st on Top 500 China Private Companies, Qixiang Tengda embraced another two milestones.

On September 15, Qixiang Tengda 100KTA MMA facility was put into operation and the construction of plant manufacturing NBR Latex for medical use was announced to kick off in a ceremony held in the new materials industrial park of Qixiang Tengda. On the same day, the MMA facility in Qixiang Tengda generated good quality products.

More than 200 people including Gai Weixing, Vice mayor of Zibo, Shangdong Province, and Zhu Zhenglin, Secretary of Linzi Distrcit Party Committee, attended the ceremony.

MMA, short for methyl methacrylate, could be used to make plexiglass, advanced coating, etc. As an ingredient of PMMA, MMA is known as the "plastic queen" for superb transparency, hardness and appearance, with huge market potential. The MMA plant is expected to generate 200 KTA MMA, 100 KTA PMMA, and 400 KTA TBA (tert-Butanol alcohol), with an investment totaling RMB 3.8 billion. TBA two-step oxidation to MMA technology used in the plant is environmentally friendly, as the production doesn't use any toxic or harmful raw materials or produce any toxic by-products.

In 2018, Qixiang Tengda's MMA new materials project agreement was signed on the Conference of Great Business Partners. In 2019, it became one of Shandong's driver transformation key projects. In 2020, it was selected to be a national level core competitiveness augmentation project.

The construction of this project kicked off in June 2019. With unstoppable fighting spirit, over 2500 workers of Qixiang Tengda has been working around the clock in spite of adverse weather conditions to finish the supposed two-year project in 15 months only. The construction used more than 40,000 tonnes of steel, almost the same amount as Beijing National Stadium. Moreover, 150,000 m3 concrete was placed, 437,445 feet long pipes were welded and about 400 major equipements were installed.

On September 8, 2020, raw materials were fed to the facilities on schedule, and good quality products were manufactured on September 15, as a result of Qixiang Tengda's well-conceived plans, meticulous organization and seamless coordination between staff.

Milestones of MMA plant and NBR latex plant suggest Qixiang Tengda embark on a high-quality development track. Qixiang Tengda also invested RMB 17.7 billion in MMA, PMMA, PDH, PO, INA, NBR latex production and the ancillary facilities required. They are expected to form coordinated development with the existing chemical businesses so that Qixiang Tengda will switch to a high-tech, sophisticated and cutting-edge company.

According to Gai Weixing, Vice Mayor of Zibo, Shandong, Qixiang Tengda and its kinds could not be more important for Zibo to enjoy high-quality development. He hoped that Qixiang would facilitate its construction of plants and maintain smooth operation of the newly-built plants. Qixiang should better connect the upstream and downstream of chemical value chain with a focus on the factory park operation, setting an example for chemical transformation and upgrade of Zibo.
